How To Use The Device:

1. Turn the handheld on. The power button is either on the upper right-hand side or in the center along the top of the device.

2. The PocketLead application will automatically load when the device is powered on.

3. You are now ready to read a badge. Take a SECURbCard badge and bring it within 1-2 inches from the reader.

4. The qualification questionnaire will appear once the card has been read. Just use the stylus or the corner of a plastic badge to select the appropriate answers. Use the “Next” button to go to the next question. If you want to skip the questionnaire just click the “Done” button.

5. Once you are done with the questionnaire, the information captured from the badge will appear on the screen. Double check to ensure all of the information is correct. Edits and notes can be made at this time, using the on-screen keyboard. Click done once the information is verified and complete.

6. You are now ready to read another badge.

7. It is strongly recommended to keep the device plugged into the power supply when it is not in use, especially overnight. This will ensure proper operation throughout the event.

8. At the end of the event (or each day if you prefer), you will need to bring the unit back to exhibitor services so we can download your leads. Leads will be downloaded from the handheld and provided to you as an ASCII comma delimited text file (easily opened in Excel). Lead files will be emailed to you within 24 hours or can be stored on your own USB key (USB keys are available for purchase from ITN onsite).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What information will I capture from each badge?
A: In the badge is the general contact information entered during the registration process. Changes and edits to this information can be made after the badge has been read in the PocketLead program.

Q: What format are the leads stored in?
A: Leads are stored in the internal database of the PDA and they are exported in a standard ASCII comma delimited text format. This format easily opens in Excel.

Q: Will I lose my leads if the device stops working during the event?
A: No. All leads are stored on a secured and battery backed-up storage area of the device and will not be lost if the device malfunctions during the event.

Q: How often do I need to charge the unit?
A: There is a battery status on the front screen that tells you how much battery is left. As a general rule you don't want the battery level to go under 30%, so keep the charger nearby and plug the unit as often as you can. Plugging and un-plugging is not a problem. Make sure to re-charge the unit overnight if you can.

Q: What do I do with the device at the end of the day?
A: The device should be plugged in each night so it will be charged for the next day. At the close of the show the device needs to be returned to the Lead Retrieval desk, along with the reader, and power supply for data download by ITN.

Q: What happens if I lose the device?
A: If the device is lost during the course of the event or not returned to ITN International within a week of the close of the event, the customer will be charged $1,200 for the lost device.

Q: How do I get my leads?
A: Your leads will provided in the manner of your choice; either on a 'Your' USB thumb drive or via email (USB keys are available for purchase from ITN onsite).
